The Philippine Physical Therapy Association, Inc. (PPTA) is a local professional organization of Filipino physical therapists recognized by the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission. PPTA is a member organization of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy and the Asian Confederation of Physical Therapy.


Poster Call for Nominations

The Professional Regulation Commission in partnership with the Philippine Physical Therapy Association is pleased to announce the call for nominations for 2016 Outstanding Professional of the Year for Physical Therapy. This award, considered the highest distinction conferred upon a professional by the PRC, will be given to the physical therapist who demonstrated professional competence and integrity, participated actively in the conduct of professional activities, contributed significantly to the advancement of the profession, and exhibited a professional’s social responsibility through participation in civic organizations and involvement in the community.

The following are the criteria for the “Outstanding Professional of the Year” Award:

A. General Criteria. The candidate must:

  1. Be a citizen of the Republic of the Philippines;
  2. Be duly registered with the PRC, with a valid and current professional identification card;
  3. Be of good moral character and a member in good standing of the APO (if a member of APO);
  4. Not have been found guilty in an administrative case, by a final and executory decision, rendered by a professional regulatory board, the PRC, or the regular courts in case of an appeal;
  5. Not have been convicted of a final judgment by a court of competent jurisdiction of any crime involving moral turpitude;
  6. Have no pending case with any of the courts for criminal / civil offense or charges;
  7. Must not have been an officer or director of the national organization of APO for at least one (1) year prior to the nomination for the awards;
  8. Not be an incumbent member of the PRB, nor be an official or employee of the PRC, and
  9. Not be a past awardee of the PRC except for another profession/s with which he is duly registered.

B. Detailed Criteria. The award is intended to bestow honor upon a professional regardless of affiliation who has:

  1. Amply demonstrated professional competence of the highest degree and conducted himself with integrity in the exercise of his profession (30%);

To nominate an outstanding physical therapist for the award, please submit the following requirements through email:

  1. PRC nomination form (can be downloaded by clicking this link) accompanied by the comprehensive curriculum vitae of the nominee or other evidence to prove that the candidate possesses the required qualifications. A 2” x 2” formal photo with white background (dpi 300 resolution), must have been taken not more than six (6) months prior to submission. Nomination form and the curriculum vitae shall not exceed twenty (20) pages;
  2. Current NBI clearance for all nominees and OMBUDSMAN clearance for nominees who are government officials or employees;
  3. Scanned copy of the nominee’s PRC identification card;
  4. Proposed citation for each nominee.

All nominations will be treated confidentially by the PPTA Outstanding Professional of the Year Award (OPYA) Screening Committee for 2016. The committee will review the nominations and will identify top three (3) nominees based from the criteria set by the PRC. Only those top three (3) nominees will undergo the panel interview by the Screening & Selection Committee from the PRC.

The recipient of the Outstanding Professional of the Year Award will be announced during the Awards Night of the PRC Anniversary Celebration which is on June 22, 2016.
