An Introductory Seminar on Occupational Health and Safety for Physical Therapists

Sunday, 09 February 2020, 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM

Metropolitan Medical Center College of Arts, Sciences, and Technology - Manila (MMC CAST)

Limited Registration

RA 11058, “An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof” (August 2018) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (December 2018) directs Philippine workplaces to ensure worker safety and safeguard their health while at work. Filipino physical therapists are now expected to implement health and safety programs in the diverse environments where they practice. The unique skills and competencies of the physical therapist can be developed towards a professional health and safety practice that will help meet the increased demand for OSH personnel in industrial establishments.

The Philippine Physical Therapy Association (PPTA), invites its members and BSPT students to this half-day seminar introducing OSH and illustrating the professional opportunities for physical therapists in the field. Sessions include:

  1. Occupational Health and Safety: Scope and Principles

  2. Occupational Health and Safety Situation of the Philippines

  3. The PT clinician providing management for occupationally disabled workers (ODW)

  4. The PT as a professional implementing workplace programs for health and safety

  5. Interactive forum on OHS
