PPTA discusses assistance programs for quarantine-affected PTs with Labor department

Updated: Apr 25, 2020

Earlier this morning, PPTA President Michael Gabilo was interviewed in DZMM Teleradyo for the segment Failon Ngayon sa DZMM. Also present was Dominique R. Tutay, CESO III, OIC-Assistant Secretary for Employment and General Administration Cluster of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

PPTA relayed to DOLE the impact of the Enhanced Community Quarantine to physical therapists, especially those engaged in home healthcare and clinical consultancy practice. Because of the imposition of quarantine in many localities, self-employed PTs are feeling the impact of No Work, No Pay as their income is reliant on every client treated each day. Other Filipino workers who are in similar situations have been promised social support from the national and local government, however self-employed PTs may find themselves ineligible to the existing amelioration programs.

PPTA and DOLE shall further discuss the assistance that the government can offer to the affected Pinoy physical therapists.
