Work with the PPTA

The PPTA working committees are comprised of members who involve themselves voluntarily in running the Association. Currently, there are committees on Membership, Publications, Legal and Ethics, Continuing Education, and Special Projects.

Active members have been helping the PPTA organize its national conventions and chapter initiatives. Members in the provinces assist Public Relations in circulating imPeTus, the Association newsletter. Some have also rendered professional services in outreach to Filipinos in partnership with other organizations. A good example is the PPTA Pediatric Special Interest Group being involved in screenings for Special Olympics Philippines.

Moreover, members have been helping the PPTA by representing it in local and international bodies, such as:

  • attending hearings in the Senate and House of Representatives on proposed laws and other issues that affect the profession
  • working on the proposed revisions of the PT-OT Bill (RA 5680)
  • sitting in technical working groups of government agencies, including the Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)
  • working with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in its activities, including the monitoring of continuing education activities and PT oathtaking ceremonies
  • assisting the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in monitoring and accreditation of physical therapy schools in the Philippines

The PPTA has concerns and activities that continually require support from its members. It needs

  • willing hands that could work in its committees
  • leaders to organize activities
  • creative minds to enrich its services
  • generous individuals who would like to contribute monetary assistance to further the Association’s causes, such as the PT Bill and advancement of the Philippine PT curriculum

The membership is encouraged to be active participants in PPTA’s efforts to uphold the profession. Individuals who wish to get involved may e-mail the PPTA.
