PPTA signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Centre for Disability and Rehabilitation (ICDR), University of Toronto on 14 April 2010. Jeffrey JD Andrion, Filipino physical therapist and Co-Chairperson of the ICDR Philippine Working Group (PWG) initiated this collaboration and worked to bring it to reality.

The PPTA and PWG-ICDR aim to further an advocacy to meet the need of persons with disability (PWD) in the Philippines for healthcare providers that provide ethical, efficient, and effective service.

This collaboration is an important addition to the existing linkages of the Association. It is unique in being a formal linkage with a foreign university, and distinctly embodies the PPTA mission to promote ”pursuit of competent and ethical practice towards the provision of effective and efficient services for the Filipino people”.
